Care Bears for Kids
Over 2,000 children in our community require surgical procedures, and almost 7,000 visit the emergency department for treatment of traumatic illness each year. These are stressful times for children – suddenly finding themselves in a strange environment and facing unknown outcomes. That’s why Care Bears for Kids exists – to help alleviate the fear children experience when they face a medical crisis and to improve their health outcomes.
Care Bears for Kids has been in existence for 22 years, thanks to the wonderful generosity of Owensboro Health Volunteer Auxiliary members. During the past few years, the need for Care Bears has multiplied tremendously. To continue Care Bears for Kids, we need your help. Your contribution will provide bears to children in need. These bears will be friends who will travel through medical crises with children, helping alleviate the fear and stress they experience when having surgery and dealing with illness.
One way you can help is by supporting the Lights for Life campaign, presented by the Owensboro Health Foundation For Health. By purchasing a special holiday ornament, you can not only honor someone special, but you will also help to continue Care Bears for Kids.
