Welcome to Owensboro Health

Being an innovative, forward-thinking health system means making good decisions that prepare us for the future. From building a new hospital to implementing an electronic medical record, we are taking exciting steps to position our organization as a regional healthcare leader.

Now, we are moving forward with another important change—a new naming structure for the health system, including revised names for both the hospital and our affiliated clinics and practices. This changeover will be a gradual implementation to take place over several months.

This naming system is designed to make it easier for you—as a patient, staff member, or community member—to understand and navigate the growing range of services we provide both inside and outside of the hospital.

What is the new name?

The health system and our proposed parent holding company will be named Owensboro Health. So that consumers can more easily identify an Owensboro Health service, we will apply the name and emblem (which is not changing) to the clinics and practices we operate.

Why change the name?

Our goal with the name change is to make the health system easy to understand by giving all of our services—the hospital, physician practices, diagnostics, and other facilities—one common brand identity. By retaining Owensboro and keeping our logo/emblem, we can build on the reputation for quality we established as Owensboro Health and at the same time respect our heritage.

What will be the name of the hospital?

The hospital will be called Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Under a proposed corporate structure plan pending before city and county officials, the hospital will be one part of a broader health system governed by a parent holding company.

What are the benefits of changing the name?

The name change will help us better communicate the breadth and scope of Owensboro Health—that we have grown to become more than a hospital—and help better establish the organization as a regional healthcare provider. The name change also positions us for continued growth.

When will the name change be official?

The Owensboro City Commission and the Daviess County Fiscal Court have approved the name change. Meanwhile, there are still a few more steps to take before Owensboro Health becomes official. Again, the name change will be implemented gradually over the next several months.

The name change will not alter day-to-day operations. It is simply a proactive way to accommodate the growth we expect to see in the future and to help consumers find important Owensboro Health services more easily.

This is an exciting time in the history of our organization as we look toward a bright and healthy future for the communities we serve.
