Physician Profile

Dr. Falcone joined the medical staff at One Health in 2013 after completing his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in general surgery, where he also served as the administrative chief resident. He serves as the co-director of the Intensive Care Unit and is a trauma surgeon at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

Dr. Falcone is a nationally recognized educator and has won many awards including the Charles C. Moore, M.D. Teaching Award, the American College of Surgeons Resident Award for Exemplary Teaching and the American Medical Association Physician Recognition Award. He is currently the Owensboro site director of surgical education for the University of Louisville and also serves as an instructor at the University of Kentucky and the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine. He shares the knowledge he has gained through instructional positions and fellowships. He has also published more than 50 articles related to surgery, surgical education, and medical education in scientific journals.  

Dr. Falcone grew up on a family farm in the small town of Silver Creek, New York that produces grapes for Welch Foods Inc.and beans for Birds Eye Foods.  He watched a close family member's struggle with cancer which led him into a career in medicine. His wife, Trasey is also a One Health physician and is a Kentucky native. They have three children, Gianna May, Joseph Donald (JD), and Rosemary June. They also have an Italian Mastiff named Pearl.
