Nursery & Mother/Baby Unit
Service/Responsibilities
Our Nursery and Mother Baby Units work closely together to ensure safe, compassionate care for both mother and baby. We are fortunate to have a Level II nursery which treats sick and premature infants. Our Mother Baby Unit is responsible for antepartum and postpartum patients, while the Nursery is responsible for the care of infants.
Technology
The Nursery uses hearing/screening and heart/respiratory monitoring technology. We also utilize phototherapy and thermo-regulation per radiant warmers and isolettes. The Nursery & Mother Baby departments use the code alert system.
Staffing
The Nursery has 30 beds and the Level II has 7 beds with an average daily census of 12 patients. The Mother Baby Unit has 20 beds with an average daily census of 12 patients. Both units use a team approach to nursing care.
Training/Education
The training offered to each department is NRP, BLS, breastfeeding, obstetrical programs, and neonatal programs. Lactation consultants are also available for patients.
Continuous Quality Improvement
The CQI offered in the Nursery and Mother Baby includes Hearing Screening monitoring, Identification monitor, Hand hygiene monitor, and RBV monitor. Our unit also includes a Level II nursery which treats sick and premature infants.
