Swim Lessons

Whether you have a child who’s new to the water or you’d like to brush up on your stroke skills, ask about private swim lessons are available year-round for 6-month-olds through seniors. Your instructor will tailor the lessons to your needs and pace.

Please refer to our Swim Academy Brochure [PDF] for age levels and times.

Swim Teams

Swim lessons can help your child prepare to join our Heatwaves summer swim team, an Owensboro-area high school swim team or the Owensboro Marlins, all of which meet at Healthpark.

Masters Swim

Katie Duncan
Masters Swim Instructor

If you’re at least 18 and know how to swim, improve your technique and endurance by joining our Masters Swim Team. You don’t need to have swum competitively to participate in this group. A certified Masters coach will guide you through a workout that can help you:

  • Prepare for a triathlon
  • Reduce stress
  • Lose weight and lower your cholesterol
  • Increase muscle tone
  • Build camaraderie with fellow swimmers

Masters Swim is free for Healthpark members and $40 per month for non-members. United States Masters Swimming (USMS) registration is required.

Lap Swim

Enjoy lap swim in our competition-size pool seven days a week. If you’re younger than 16, ask an adult to accompany you. The number of lanes available changes throughout the day, so check our Healthpark mobile app or call us for updates. During busy times, we encourage circle swimming to make it easier for you to participate.

If you would like to be added to the weekly schedule e-mail, contact Julie.Roberts@owensborohealth.org.

Certified Lifeguards

You’ll feel safer in the water knowing Healthpark lifeguards are Red-Cross certified, meaning they’re trained in preventing, recognizing and responding to aquatic emergencies. Lifeguards monitor pool activities at various times of the day.

We do offer Lifeguard Certification classes. To learn availability, please visit the Healthpark front desk or call 270-688-5433.

Target Heart Rate Calculator

During exercise, you want to elevate your heart rate to strengthen your heart while avoiding rates that endanger it.

Use our Target Heart Rate Calculator to find the safe heart rate for people your age during exercise. If you're beginning an exercise program, aim for the low end of this range. If you’ve been exercising for a while, you can aim for a higher target rate.
