Radiology Frequently Asked Questions
Can I call for an appointment?
You are welcome to call to arrange your appointment, but for most studies you will have to have a physicians referral. In many cases, this physician will arrange your appointment for you. If you have questions about services that may not need a referral, please call us to discuss.
How should I prepare for my procedure?
You may or may not be required to fast prior to your test. Click on the appropriate service below to help determine what preparations you'll need to make.
Should I bring anything with me?
Yes, please be sure to bring a list of all your medications and previous surgeries. And although we'll most likely precertify your procedure with your insurance company before you arrive, please bring your insurance card with you when you come for your test.
Does insurance cover these procedures?
We try to participate with all local insurance carriers and networks. If you are uncertain if your specific insurance covers your test, you may wish to call our office (270-926-8171) and speak to our pre-cert department to discuss your specific questions.
When will my doctor know the results of my exam?
All reports from the previous day are typed and faxed to the referring doctor within 24 hours.
Why do I have to call my referring doctor? Why can't you tell me the results of my exam?
The studies you have had at RDI are only one piece of your overall health. The physician who sent you here may have also gathered more information through other testing (ie labwork and physical exams). It is only with all of this information can they give you the answers you are looking for.
Why do I have to show my ID to pick up my films?
We ask to see the ID so that we ensure that we maintain our high standard of patient confidentiality. We would never want to release films to someone other than the patient or their designee. Asking for identification helps us ensure the films are getting to the right person.
Is there a charge for the courier to deliver my films?
No, the courier service is free of charge to all RDI patients and Owensboro physician offices.
How far in advance do I need to let you know that I will be picking up my films?
It only takes 5-10 minutes for a set of films to be prepared to be loaned out, so you can simply stop in any time and pick them up. If the films are to be mailed out we need to know about 3 to 4 days before your appointment to allow time for delivery.
