Job Summary
  • Provides leadership and direction for areas of responsibility. Works collaboratively with senior leadership for strategic planning.
Job Responsibilities
  • Develops departmental goals and objectives consistent with medical, administrative, legal and ethical requirements of the health care delivery system.
  • Directs and/or assist in the prompt resolution of issues and complaints.
  • Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in assigned areas of responsibility.Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services.
  • Monitors and adheres to annual hospital operating budget. Approves or monitors expenditures, purchases and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines.
  • Ensures a high level of patient care is maintained in assigned areas of responsibility through coordination and management of personnel and resources.
  • Uses sound business and clinical management strategies to maintain and improve quality; ensure appropriate access; meets established financial goals; and develops, implements, and communicates a service line plan, which is aligned with and supports corporate goals.
  • Performs job duties in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Master's degree preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) required. Eligible to practice nursing in the State of Kentucky required.Certified as a Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider preferred.
Work Experience
  • 5 years progressive experience in Surgical Services with a minimum of one year experience in a leadership role required. Specialty units may prefer related work experience.
