  • Job Summary
    • Provides analysis, facilitation, and coaching to staff and management on quality with a variety of projects focused on continuous improvement in processes and outcomes. Utilizes statistical process control (SPC) principles to provide recommendations for improvements in processes and outcomes by mining data from various sources. Completes less routine assignments. Duties and tasks are more complex. Exercises judgment to solve more complex problems.
  • Job Responsibilities
    • Gathers various types of data from various sources, compiling the data appropriately and ensuring validity. As directed, coordinates data compilation and validation of information for large regulatory projects such as Meaningful Use, Physicians' Quality Reporting System (PQRS), and Group Practice Reporting Option(GPRO).
    • Performs statistical analysis as applicable.
    • Establishes procedures and calendars to ensure the accurate and consistent collection, summarization, reporting, and interpretation of data.
    • Prepares reports and makes recommendations based on findings; identifies trends/patterns, causes for variation, and opportunities for improvements.
    • Collaborates with clinical, information technology, and office practice teams to improve the quality and completeness of documentation related to care provided and focus measures.
    • Collaborates with and serves as an expert with assigned quality/patient safety focuses, committees and improvement teams in data collection, data analysis, and data reporting.
    • Serves as internal expert and resource for improvement teams in regards to strategies, plans, and tools.
    • Helps design and facilitate programs, meetings, and education on quality improvement or patient safety.
    • Possesses the ability to influence and inspire and be respected as a 'change agent' for improvement.
    • Builds positive working relationships across the organization.
    • Compiles and analyzes information for peer review, medical group committees, board meetings, and other venues assigned.
    • Ensures compliance with regulatory and Joint Commission requirements.
    • Assists in coordination of accurate and timely data submissions to outside entities such as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as directed by the Quality/Patient Safety leadership team.
  • Organizational Responsibilities

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field required. A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration
    • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.
  • Work Experience
    • 2 to 8 years progressive experience in a related field required. Nursing or clinical background preferred.
  • Skills and Attributes
    • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under general supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Requires a strong understanding of concepts, practices, and procedures in various areas of clinical specialization and regulatory requirements. Requires proficient computer, electronic health record software, and Microsoft Office skills.
