Biography
Gus Johnson has been with Owensboro Health since 1999. Since joining Owensboro Health she has worked in critical care, joint replacement, IV therapy and wound care. Gus has 9 years’ experience working with diabetic ulcers and is proud of the work she is doing now to prevent these diabetes’ wounds. Gus sees patients with diabetes at the Healthpark where she also teaches classes. She is a certified Lifestyle Coach for the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) and teaches DPP classes. Gus provides community outreach diabetes education to churches, social clubs and community centers. She is the coordinator of the Owensboro Health Diabetes Support Group. Gus was appointed as a Kentucky Colonel in 2016 for bringing diabetes education to the community. She also has worked in psychiatric nursing caring for children with mental illness.
