Dr. Matthew Golden joined Owensboro Health Surgical Specialists (previously known as Ohio Valley Surgical Specialists) as a general surgeon in 2014. He previously served as the chief resident of general surgery at the University of Louisville.

Dr. Golden knows that surgery is one of the biggest events in a person’s life. That is why he takes time to listen to his patients and learn more about them.

“I treat each patient like my own family, like a brother or sister.”

Dr. Golden says his Christian faith is an important influence on his practice philosophy. The integration of faith and medicine are very important to him and he puts a strong focus on faith as a part of good medicine.

Dr. Golden enjoys the variety that general surgery offers. His services include abdominal, vascular, thoracic, colorectal and gallbladder procedures.

Dr. Golden sees patients at the Owensboro and Henderson offices. He has staff privileges at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, Owensboro Surgery Center, Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital and Methodist Hospital.

Dr. Golden is a Georgia native. He and his wife, Hope, live in Owensboro and have two children, Meda and Eliza.

Commitment Statement

Surgery is not just about technology and science and Dr. Golden knows the importance of listening to his patients, lifting their spirits and encouraging their faith. “A big part of healing is spending time to show them that you care for them and you care how they do,” Dr. Golden said.

Advances in science and medicine mean that Dr. Golden can offer the best surgical options to patients. Using the da Vinci surgical suite, Dr. Golden has 3-D vision inside the patient, as well as unprecedented instrument control, all done through just a few tiny incisions. Less-invasive surgical methods increase the chance of faster recoveries and better outcomes for patients.
