“My philosophy of care is to look at the person as whole.”
For the first time in her life, Dr. Kahira Biernat is living outside the New York/New Jersey area. So far, she has found the Owensboro area welcoming as she settles into her new role as a family practice physician with Owensboro Health. “This has been an easy transition thus far,” she said.
After graduating from New York Medical College and completing a family practice residency at Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Medical Center, she is ready to hit the ground running. “I love primary care and building long term relationships with my patients. There was no focused specialty I was particularly drawn to, so I decided to do a little bit of everything,” she said.
Dr. Biernat enjoys coordinating all of her patients’ care as their primary physician. “I like how I’m the center of my patient’s care,” she said. I have knowledge of every specialist on board. I can coordinate and make sure my patient gets everything they need.”
“My philosophy is to look at the person as a whole. Nobody is from a textbook. Listen to your patient, because that is when you learn the most.”
She came to Owensboro Health on the recommendation of a colleague who thought she would be a good fit. “I immediately felt comfortable and welcomed here,” she said. “I can see myself establishing a long healthy practice within Owensboro Health.”
Dr. Biernat enjoys spending time with her son, painting and traveling, and writing romance and drama stories for an app with a large audience. “It is very fulfilling knowing I am entertaining others and they are excitedly waiting for me to update,” she said.
