Prepared for Childbirth Express Class
This class provides a general overview of the birth process for those planning a medicated birth or those who need to get the information in a shorter period of time. This series covers information covered in the 3-night Tuesday or Wednesday class series. We offer a tour at the end of the class for those who want one, but it may add an additional 30 minutes to the class time.
It is recommended to take our Prepared Childbirth Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday Series if you are planning a natural birth. The Comfort Measures Workshop will offer in-depth practice of labor exercises and comfort techniques.
When you register, whoever you list as a birthing partner on the registration form will automatically be registered for the class or tour you register for.
Topics We Cover
- Fetal Development
- Warning signs & Preterm labor
- Process of Labor and Delivery
- Relaxation Exercises
- Breathing & Comfort Techniques
- Coaches Role/Childbirth Films
- Cesarean Birth/Anesthesia
- Recovery and postpartum
You’ll find this series especially useful when you’re about six or seven months pregnant. These classes make an excellent follow-up to our Welcome to Pregnancy Open House and Pregnancy Nutrition & Exercise class.
The Baby Care & Safety Class and the Breastfeeding Class information is NOT covered in the express class. Those classes are offered on separate Thursday nights. Hands-on Comfort Workshop for hands-on practice of breathing, relaxation, and comfort techniques also available.
Tour of Maternity Services included. May register for a separate tour if you want to tour with other family/labor support people not attending childbirth classes.
