Owensboro Health Regional Hospital Earns A Kentucky Design Award
Owensboro Health Regional Hospital has earned another accolade for its design, receiving the Facility Design Award at the 2015 MediStar Awards.
The MediStar Awards recognize Kentucky healthcare providers, including individuals and organizations, for excellence, leadership, advocacy, innovation and more. Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and architectural firm HGA were recognized for demonstrating “functional or innovative design in a new or renovated healthcare facility, which improves the delivery of care.”
Owensboro Health was one of four nominees for the award. Other nominees included:
- UK Healthcare, Gill Heart Institute New Inpatient Unit, designed by GBBN Architects
- Family Health Center – East Broadway, Designed by JRA Architects
- Seven Counties Services – Center One
When accepting the award, Owensboro Health President and CEO Philip Patterson said that this kind of recognition is deserved not just by architects, but by everyone in the health system and also the community at large.
“Recognition of this nature should be shared by the entire team,” Patterson said. “That includes thousands of employees, physicians and community members who provided input into what would become a part of HGA’s final design.”
Patterson said that teamwork resulted in what Owensboro Health Regional Hospital is today, a beautiful facility that offers world-class care focused on exceptional quality and an outstanding patient experience. Some examples of the innovations taking place include the Harvest Market and upcoming partnership with the City of Owensboro and Daviess County on connecting the Adkisson Greenbelt Park walking trail to the hospital site, and more.
“These are just a few examples of how the design of a beautiful facility is helping us realize its purpose while advancing our mission of healing the sick and improving the health of the communities we serve,” Patterson said.
