Owensboro Health Welcomes Pain Management Specialist Dr. Jason Lee

A new pain management specialist has joined Owensboro Health, opening up a new specialty to local residents seeking medical care.

Dr. Jason Lee is a pain management physician, joining the newly created Owensboro Health Medical Group - Pain Management clinic. Dr. Lee is a native of Paris, Tennessee and joins Owensboro Health from Lexington, Ky., where he recently practiced in the University of Kentucky’s Department of Anesthesiology Interventional Pain Management clinic. Dr. Lee will begin seeing patients on July 22, 2015.

The inspiration to become a doctor comes from family, Dr. Lee said. His mother is a physical therapist and his uncle is a physician, and their influence helped nudge him in the direction of medicine.

“I always thought it was amazing how my uncle could spout out all this knowledge about the body. That was something I wanted to do,” Dr. Lee said. “I've always loved helping people so it just made sense. Now I get to help people every day of my life.”

And pain management is a realm where Dr. Lee said he immediately felt a great deal of job satisfaction.

“The first time I did a trigger point injection on a patient, they got instant relief from pain, which they'd had for over a year,” Dr. Lee said. “That's when I knew this was what I wanted to do. It made me feel great that they felt so much better.”

Dr. Lee said Owensboro was a welcoming community, especially with a wife and two children, ages 1 and 7.

“It seems like a great town and I was very impressed with the city and all the people I met,” Dr. Lee said. “My kids really love the park on the riverfront. It's got a small town feel and it's a big city, but everyone is so friendly.”

And Dr. Lee said coming to Owensboro opens up a lot of doors for him to help people.

“I hope to impact the community by helping people feel better and regain function, one patient at a time,” Dr. Lee said. “I hope to alleviate their pain, so they can get back that quality of life and get back to work and playing golf or whatever else they'd like to be doing. I'll help anyone I can.”
