Owensboro Health Healthpark Earns Recertification

The Owensboro Health Healthpark has earned recertification as a medical-based fitness facility. Facility and staff earned a near-perfect score following a survey conducted in early December.

The Healthpark was first certified by the Medical Fitness Association in August 2013, becoming the 25th facility in the United States to earn this recognition. During the 2016 survey, which was conducted on December 7-8, the Healthpark and its staff earned a score of 99 percent across 209 different standards related to quality and safety.

Healthpark Director Collette Carter, who was also recently elected to the MFA Board of Directors and will begin serving in January 2017, said the recertification is a reflection of the Healthpark’s continued dedication to excellence in promoting physical activity and health education.

“Our team is dedicated to ensuring we provide the highest quality programs and services available with a focus on safety. The certification process is a huge team effort and takes every department working together to be successful,” Carter said. “What makes us different from other fitness facilities is the expertise of our staff, documented program outcomes and integration with the health system.  The Healthpark team is able to engage with different disciplines and community partners, to work toward the goal of making all our communities healthier places to live.”
