Lactation team earns award for awareness and education efforts!

The Lactation team at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital has been named as a recipient of the 2019 International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners Care Award!

This award, which is bestowed by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners® and the International Lactation Consultant Association ®, recognizes organizations that staff board-certified lactation consultants. The award also cites Owensboro Health for "conducting activities that demonstrate promotion, protection, and support of breastfeeding." The award is valid for two years, ending on April 30, 2021.

Using Facebook to spread the word

Jessica Crisp, director of Maternity Services, noted that the Lactation team's weekly "Breastfeeding Friends" social media session has become tremendously popular, helping earn this award.

"They have worked very hard over the past year to increase the awareness of breastfeeding and have developed a very successful Facebook Live segment," Crisp said. "We appreciate all they do and are very proud of
this award!"
