COVID-19 Update - April 27
Dr. Francis DuFrayne
As we start the process of a slow and gradual reopening of services, we are evaluating our procedures to make sure we keep our patients and team members safe. We’ve already implemented many of the Governor’s guidelines, such as having individuals wait in their cars instead of the waiting room, and are adding even more safeguards moving forward. As we adapt to new requirements for being “healthy at work,” we remain dedicated to healing the sick and improving the health of the communities we serve.

We’re helping other employers keep their employees healthy at work by providing Healthpark team members to work as temperature screeners at 14 regional companies. Owensboro Health and Owensboro Health Medical Group are partners with Unifirst and Specialty Food Groups to provide occupational medical services, wellness screenings and programs.
CDC Adds Symptoms
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has added several new symptoms to its existing list of symptoms for COVID-19. The CDC has said that fever, cough and shortness of breath are indications that someone might have COVID-19. It has now added six more conditions that may come with the virus: chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat and new loss of taste or smell. The expanded symptoms list could prove important because with a limited number of test kits available, typically those seeking a test must first show symptoms.
Mask Requirements
As we enter the first phase of reopening healthcare services, masks are crucial in controlling the spread of COVID-19. All healthcare providers and team members must wear a surgical or procedural mask while in the facility unless an N95 mask is required. All patients and others in the office must wear a surgical or procedural mask while in an acute care hospital or ambulatory surgery center, and either a surgical or procedural mask or cloth face covering in all other healthcare settings.
