April 2, 2020 - As we prepare for the potential surge of COVID-19 patients, we are continually working to streamline our communications and processes. We strive to be transparent with our team members, the community and the media about our daily operations, because we are all in this together. From a designated operations center to handle all COVID-19 related issues, to this daily communication and participating with local officials on Facebook Live, we want to keep you informed with the most up-to-date details as we move forward. If you have questions related to the pandemic, please see the resource page.

OHMCH Drive-in Prayer Vigilphoto from the vigil

Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital was host to a drive-in prayer vigil for healthcare workers and COVID-19 patients on Wednesday night. Community members parked in the hospital lot, flashed their headlights and prayed for all those affected.

Emergency Medical Planning

Owensboro Health is working closely with the city, county and state governments to plan for an offsite medical care facility if the need arises in our community. The partnerships between local government officials, the Green River District Health Department and Daviess County Emergency Management Agency are critical as we plan to be over prepared for all possible scenarios.

Facebook Live Tonight

Owensboro Health Chief Medical Officer Francis DuFrayne will join local officials to give comments and updates about the response to COVID-19 in Daviess County tonight on a Facebook Live session on the Daviess County Emergency Management Agency Facebook page.

Goodie Bags Delivered

The Gift Shop and Guest Services Departments recently made goodie bags for team members on behalf of our volunteers. The bags of snacks were donated by the community and passed out to each unit in the patient tower, Maternity Services, the Emergency Department and other departments throughout the hospital. We want to thank our community for everything they are doing for our team.

Determining Risk Factors

Our team members are our greatest asset. As the teams are assigned to patients, we will follow the CDC’s guidelines regarding People Who are at Higher Risk to determine the risk factors of our healthcare workers.

Sterile processing of N95 masks

We are now able to sterilize N95 masks for a limited number of reuses. Leaders have received the Standard Work Instruction and can share with you how the N95 masks will be sent and received from Sterile Processing. This is an important part of our PPE conservation efforts.

Worth Repeating…
