Power Up Kidz

Help your children ages 8-12 discover how to stay healthy, active and fit by joining them in Power Up Kidz—a fun, four-week program at Owensboro Health’s Healthpark. Your family will learn about nutrition, exercise and goal setting from experts who start you on the path to wellness.

What’s Involved?

A certified personal trainer and a fitness instructor lead Power Up Kidz. You’ll also hear tips for living healthfully from certified dietitians and nutritionists, doctors, counselors and other professionals.

The program takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.. During each hour-long class, you and your child spend the first 20 minutes learning about topics such as motivation, supermarket shopping and nutrition.

For the next 40 minutes, your child enjoys a physical activity, such as water aerobics, body weight training or yoga. You and fellow parents may continue discussing the day’s health topic while the children exercise.

Follow Up

After the first four weeks of Power Up Kidz, your child can join 60-minute active-play periods on the same days and times for another month. Bring him or her to these sessions to help your child build on the progress made in the program.

Participate With Your Child

Your child is more likely to embrace a healthy lifestyle when you commit to healthy habits, too. That’s why we ask you to attend each Power Up Kidz session with him or her.

Program Cost

Cost of Power Up Kidz is $40 per child and free for parents. Ask us about scholarships available to children of Healthpark members
