Biography
After watching a live surgery for the first time during a high school field trip, Gina came home and told her mother she was going to be a heart surgeon. The excitement she felt that day has always stayed with her.
“I enjoy the tedious and the delicate nature of a ‘needle and thread’ used to suture a blood vessel,” says Dr. Roessler. “My first exposure to this skill was from my grandmother, who taught me at age eight to carefully stitch embroidery. Who knew she was preparing me for the profession that I love?”
"Treating vascular patients is often complex. I enjoy that challenge,” she says. “It requires creative, yet informed, thinking as I anticipate the next steps, evaluate what could go wrong, then problem solve for the most effective solution.”
Dr. Roessler performs cerebrovascular and aortic surgeries utilizing both endovascular and open surgical options. She provides surgical treatments for peripheral arterial and venous diseases, as well as hemodialysis access procedures.
