Biography

Inspired by her family’s beliefs that “we should be of service to others,” Dr. Minerva Covarrubias loves helping people heal. As a pulmonologist, she knows she can improve the quality of her patients’ lives by helping them breathe more comfortably, allowing them to be active and do what they love.

Dr. Covarrubias specializes in the evaluation and management of airway diseases, pneumonia, inflammatory and interstitial lung diseases, pleural diseases, sleep disorders and lung cancer, as well as bronchoscopy and other advanced diagnostic procedures. She enjoys the challenge of encountering a variety of diseases while practicing pulmonology, requiring a strong understanding of other specialties, such as infectious disease, oncology and rheumatology.

She chose to practice in Greenville because she came to miss the sense of community of practicing in a small, rural area. “I missed going to the local stores and running into patients and their families at the store or local fair. I also enjoy the quiet and slower pace of a smaller town. I love the country and farm life.”

Dr. Covarrubias comes with a “furry family of one cat, two dogs and four horses.” She is an avid equestrian who trains and competes throughout the year in dressage and natural horsemanship. She is also fluent in Spanish.
