OHMCH Long Term Care Recognized As 5-Star Facility

The Long Term Care Unit at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital has received the highest rating possible from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
The facility now boasts a 5-star rating on the Nursing Home Compare website, which allows consumers to make educated decisions when choosing a long term care plan. The rating is based on inspection results, staffing levels, penalties the government has taken against nursing homes and how well residents are treated. The star rating allows CMS to highlight nursing home quality in an easily understandable way.
“At OHMCH we realize that 5-star healthcare is a team effort,” Ed Heath, OHRH Chief Operating Officer, said. ‘The Long-Term Care team is very deserving of this designation.”
Chief Nursing Officer and Nursing Home Administrator Kathy Myer said the team took actionable steps to achieve the rating. “Our Long Term Care Team understood the change that was needed for CMS to recognize our Nursing Home as a 5 Star Facility. We looked hard at the data and took action to close the gap between being a 4 Star Facility and 5 Stars,” she said.
However, it’s not about the recognition.
“What Owensboro Health cares about most is what is behind 5 stars,” Myer said. “We want families in our community to find comfort quickly that their mother or father is receiving quality care in a safe secure place with caring help close at hand.”
The Long Term Care Unit is the only facility in the area to earn the 5-star rating.
