Twin Lakes Updates Health Record Technology

LEITCHFIELD, Ky. (Sept. 16, 2021) Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center is using new medical record technology to provide a seamless experience for patients, providers and team members.

“The implementation of Epic electronic health record (EHR) system at OHTLMC is a huge investment in our facility, our patients, and the communities we serve,” said Ashley Herrington, Chief Operating Officer. “This industry-leading technology provides our team with the best resources to deliver the highest quality healthcare right here in Grayson County.”

With this change, Twin Lakes will now be able to take advantage of integrated medical records across the entire Owensboro Health system. Sharing records is automatic and consistent between clinics, diagnostic centers and hospital locations. The system also offers greater tracking and reporting capability for healthcare providers and helps deliver safe and effective medical care by offering alerts to team members.

A change in systems can present challenges, but the team at Twin Lakes has embraced the update. “The transition to Epic at Twin Lakes has gone very well due to the prep work done by the leadership team and staff, as well as the continued leadership engagement afterwards,” said Dr. David Danhauer, Owensboro Health Chief Medical Information Officer. “Several areas are continuing to tweak the system to improve workflows and our Provider Support Team is meeting with providers routinely to improve their usage and streamline workflows for them.”

For patients, Epic integrates all aspects of their care, including hospital and clinic visits, labwork, x-rays, etc., into one record. Patients can then access MyChart - a program that puts their medications, test results, upcoming appointments, medical bills, price estimates and more, at their fingertips.

For those patients who had accessed their records in the legacy patient portal, medical records will be available by logging in until September 30, 2021, or by calling 270-259-9517 to request a copy at any time.

Patients can request an account in the new patient portal, MyChart, at MyChart.omhs.org/MyChart/accesscheck.asp and log in access to Owensboro Health records for visits occurring after August 1, 2021. Learn more about MyChart at OwensboroHealth.org/MyChart
