Attention Parents and Caregivers: Powder Formula Recall

There has been a voluntary recall on certain Abbott powder formula products including Similac, Alimentum and EleCare. No Owensboro Health facilities are using these formulas at this time.

Concerned parents can see if the formulas they’ve purchased are part of the recall at SimilacRecall.com, and WIC parents should contact the local WIC office if they have an infant on a recalled formula.

If your baby uses one of the recalled formulas, consider using one of these alternatives:

  • Similac Advance or Pro Advance: Enfamil Infant, Gerber Goodstart Gentle, or any generic for Similac Advance or Pro Advance
  • Similac Total Comfort/Sensitive: Enfamil Gentlease, Gerber Goodstart Soothe, or any generic for Similac Total Comfort/Sensitive
  • Similac Spit Up: Enfamil AR, or any generic for Similac Spit Up
  • Similac Alimentum: Enfamil Nutramigen, or any generic for Similac Alimentum

If your child requires a more specialized formula such as Elecare or you have further questions, please consult your pediatrician for further recommendations. You can read the full release for more information.
