Many of our vaccinated patients who are hospitalized have underlying health conditions like diabetes, congestive heart failure or COPD. Vaccines continue to be our best protection against severe illness and death from COVID-19, and the number of hospitalized patients seen here would be much higher without them. In Kentucky, from July 21, 2021 to January 26, 2022, 94% of COVID-19 deaths under age 60 were unvaccinated. For those age 60 and older, 73% were unvaccinated.
