Owensboro Health Earns Good Neighbor Award

Owensboro Health Team Members and Mayor Tom Watson

Owensboro Health was recently honored with the Owensboro Neighborhood Alliances Good Neighbor Award 2023.

Owensboro Mayor Tom Watson presented the award to Owensboro Health President and CEO Mark Marsh, Director of Community Engagement Debbie Zuerner and Vice President of Population Health Services Jim Tidwell, MD.

Mayor Watson described the organization's efforts in the community by saying, “Owensboro Health provided grants to help fund the Dugan Best Alliance Gala Day, the Seven Hills Alliance Summer’s End Block Party, and the Northwest Alliance Groovin’ on the Green concert.

“Along with financial support, they brought several team members to each event to provide free health screenings and educational health resources to our community. Owensboro Health staff members provided punch cards, banners, brochures, and so much more to ensure that each event was a success.

“They played an important role in implementing The West End Food Alliance by working with the Alliances to connect with Tri-State Food Bank and have attended the pop-up produce events to offer healthy recipe options.

“Owensboro Health has shown the Neighborhood Alliance program that they support and believe in our mission and continue to work with us to ensure the citizens of Owensboro receive the care and resources they deserve.”

“It was very special to be recognized by the Owensboro Neighborhood Alliances for Owensboro Health’s work with their boards and community members to help them improve the health and well-being of their friends, families and neighbors,” Said Zuerner. “Many members of our OH team have provided their expertise and knowledge at the Alliance’s events, which has resulted in individuals finding out for the first time they had a chronic health condition, were taught HandsOnly CPR, received information about quitting their use of tobacco and how to do so, information about the Healthpark and falls prevention, received bicycle helmets, met with Maternal and Child care team members, many were referred for screenings, to providers and so much more.”
