Owensboro Health Henderson Healthplex Opens On-site Pharmacy

Owensboro Health leaders and team members gathered today at the Henderson Healthplex (1200 Barret Court, Henderson) for a ribbon-cutting celebration at the facility’s new pharmacy.

Gary Lee, Director of Clinic Operations, welcomed attendees to the event. “Five years ago, we opened this Healthplex, and as of today, we are one of the premier health clinics in Henderson,” he said. “We're so proud of it.”

Lee credits the facility’s success to listening to the community’s needs. The clinic has recently added more healthcare providers, and they offer complete Urgent Care open seven days a week, walk-in 3-D mammograms, laboratory services, and now, a full-service pharmacy.

The new addition came together in a fast four months, thanks to the dedication of several individuals and departments.

“I think this pharmacy really represents our mission to heal the sick and improve the health of the communities we serve,” Jason Collins, OH Director of Pharmacy, said. “This pharmacy is more collaborative with our community to make sure we provide great care to our patients every day. Looking forward, we really like this opportunity to work and take care of our community and our loved ones here in Henderson.”

Manager of Pharmacy Jeff McKeever told the crowd that the pharmacy will help combat patients’ barriers to accessing medication, from supply issues to insurance prior authorizations. “We're going to have collaboration with these wonderful providers, where if they have issues that they can't get medication to their patients, they have a door that can knock on a person they can reach out to, and we can ensure that patients are being seen and taken care of,” he said.

The location also offers a new level of convenience for patients. Parents who bring a sick child to urgent care and get prescribed an antibiotic no longer have to go to another place to wait for a medication that may not be available.

Said McKeever: “This is really going to improve lives.”
