Mayor Recognizes OH Nurses

This Nurses Week, a beautiful story unfolded at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, highlighting the incredible impact of our nursing staff on the lives they touch every day.

Belinda Haliburton, a patient's wife deeply moved by the exceptional care her husband received at OHRH, felt compelled to do something special. In an inspiring act of gratitude, the former librarian reached out to Mayor Watson, requesting a special recognition for the nurses during Nurses Week (May 6-12).

Mayor Watson responded with enthusiasm and visited OHRH today to deliver a heartfelt proclamation. This event saw Belinda Haliburton sharing her touching story, joined by Owensboro Health President and CEO Mark Marsh, Owensboro Health COO and Chief Nursing Officer Beth Steele, Mayor Watson, and several members of our dedicated nursing staff.

“What I found is that there were not just nurses,” Haliburton told the group. “There were extraordinary nurses.”

As we reflect on this touching occasion, let’s celebrate the incredible leadership and compassion of our nursing staff, not just during Nurses Week but every single day.

A big thank you to Belinda Haliburton for initiating this tribute, Mayor Watson for honoring our nurses, and to all the nurses at OHRH for your unwavering commitment and extraordinary care. You make us proud! Let’s spread the word about the remarkable difference nurses make in our lives.
