Owensboro Health Hits Lung Cancer Detection Milestone

Group Photo

This morning the Owensboro Health Endoscopy team performed their 100th bronchoscopy with the lon Robot. In the last 6 months, the team has utilized this technology to diagnose lung cancer from smaller nodules than ever before (as small as 7 mm). Smaller nodules mean catching lung cancer earlier, offering patients more hope for treatment or even a cure. Out of the 100 bronchoscopies completed with the lon Robot, over 90% had a positive diagnostic yield, meaning the patient received an answer.

Pulmonologist Dr. Brad Brasher said the new technology is "the best thing to happen to this community since we started offering lung screenings."
