Owensboro Health Hosts Annual Food+Art+Health Event

On the bright and bustling morning of July 13, the Owensboro Regional Farmers Market was transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity, wellness, and community spirit for the much-anticipated Food+Art+Health event. This signature event, hosted by Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, has become a cornerstone of community engagement since its inception in 2015. However, it was in 2018 that the event truly found its identity, drawing inspiration from the essential elements of food, art, and health to foster a healthier and more connected community.

Nearly 5,000 attendees flocked to the market to access locally produced fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, and dairy, while also engaging with the arts and learning about health resources.

One of the highlights of the day was the annual community mural project, orchestrated by the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art. Participants of all ages eagerly painted tiles, each contributing a piece to a larger mural that depicted themes of health, wellness, the arts, and the farmers market itself. This collective artwork, destined for display in the hospital lobby, symbolized the unity and collaborative spirit of the Owensboro community.

Throughout the event, a variety of Owensboro Health departments, including the Healthpark, Prevention Services, Endocrinology, Maternity Services, Accreditation, Orthopedics and the Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center provided invaluable health knowledge and resources.

Community organizations such as the Owensboro Symphony, Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum and Theatre Workshop of Owensboro enriched the atmosphere with artistic expressions, highlighting the connection between art and well-being.

The Food+Art+Health event was more than just an opportunity to access fresh local products and art; it was a celebration of the interconnectedness of our daily lives. By bringing together the elements of food, art, and health, Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and its community partners emphasized the importance of nurturing our bodies, minds, and spirits in a fun and engaging way.
