Owensboro Health Hosts Leadership Owensboro Healthcare Session

Leadership Owensboro Visit

More than 30 members of Leadership Owensboro attended Healthcare In Our Community Day on Thursday, January 18. The event brought together members to discuss critical healthcare issues and identify potential solutions. The day featured insightful presentations, interactive discussions and networking opportunities.

The morning session focused on mental health, with experts from RiverValley Behavioral Health sharing their perspectives on the challenges facing the community. Attendees gained valuable insights into mental health and its impact on individuals and families.

In the afternoon, the group explored access to healthcare and community resources. Representatives from various organizations shared their experiences and highlighted innovative approaches to addressing healthcare disparities and improving access to services.

The event also covered topics such as physician recruitment and retention, patient engagement, and caregiver well-being. Participants engaged in thought-provoking discussions about ways to enhance the healthcare experience for both providers and patients.

The day concluded with a call to action, emphasizing the importance of change management, prioritization, trust, communication, and encouragement in addressing healthcare challenges. Attendees were able to see innovation in action by touring the HealthForce One mobile technology center that will bring simulation labs, classrooms, and a medical lab to the HealthForce Kentucky service area in an effort to inspire careers in healthcare. Students also got a first-hand look at new medical robotic technology with a demonstration of the Ion endoluminal system using robotic bronchoscopy, a robot-assisted tool physicians can use to diagnose lung cancer at earlier stages than traditionally possible. Earlier diagnoses mean a higher survival rate for patients.

Overall, the Leadership Owensboro event at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital provided a platform for healthcare professionals and community leaders to come together, share their expertise, and collectively work towards improving the health and well-being of the community.

Five Owensboro Health team members (Nicole Leach, Mindy Jones, Kliricia Mullican, Danielle Johnson, and Bobby Grant) represent the OH organization in Leadership Owensboro.
