Owensboro Health Names Gilbert Mischel as New Director of Government Affairs

Gilbert Mischel
Owensboro Health is pleased to announce the appointment of Gilbert Mischel as its new Director of Government Affairs. Mischel acquired invaluable knowledge and experience through his political work at both the national and state levels. He is now leveraging this expertise to advance the mission of Owensboro Health, fostering robust relationships and a collaborative spirit with community and government leaders.

Mischel comes to Owensboro Health with a wealth of experience in government affairs and public policy. He previously served as the Field Representative for United States Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, managing the senator’s Bowling Green office and building relationships with locally elected officials, organizations and constituents as the Senator's representative. Prior to that, he served in multiple capacities for the Republican Party of Kentucky, where he led the initiative to re-elect Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Congressman Andy Barr.

An Owensboro native and graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School, Mischel is a 2016 graduate of the University of Kentucky. He looks forward to returning home, cheering on the Aces and Wildcats, and spending time with his three God-children.

“I am honored to advocate for better health outcomes in Frankfort and Washington D.C.,” he said. “I hope to help drive forward Owensboro Health’s mission of a healthier community.”

Mischel will report to Owensboro Health President and CEO Mark Marsh. "We are excited to welcome Gilbert to Owensboro Health," said Marsh. "His experience and expertise in government affairs will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for the health and well-being of our community."
