Healthy Tips Video: Stay Healthy This Respiratory Illness Season
Video Transcript
Hi, I'm Dr. Wade Taylor, medical director at Owensboro Health Urgent Care Ford. With school back in session and fall just around the corner, we're entering peak season for respiratory illnesses. And that means it's time to be proactive about your health.
Influenza gets a lot of attention this time of year, and for good reason. It can knock you out for days and lead to serious complications. Getting your annual flu shot is your best offense.
Flu is not the only bug going around. We're also seeing a rise in COVID, strep, the common cold virus, and other viral infections that spread quickly in classrooms, offices and crowded spaces.
So besides getting your flu shot, what can you do to protect yourself and your family? Wash your hands often, especially after being in public spaces. And if you or your child are feeling sick, stay home. Pushing through can make things worse and spread illnesses to others. And don't forget, hydration, sleep, and nutrition are your immune system's best friends, leaving you better equipped to fight off infection.
At Owensboro Health Urgent Care, we're here to help you navigate this season safely. Whether it's a quick test, treatment, or just peace of mind, we've got you covered. And thank you for trusting us with your care.
