OH Team Members Rally to Set Food Drive Collection Record
This holiday season, your friends and neighbors at Owensboro Health showed what this community does best: work together to help those in need. Our annual food drive has collected 26,000 pounds (13 tons) of food and supplies so far this season. This total is the most ever recorded by Owensboro Health and more than doubles last year’s effort of 11,000 pounds.
OH also donated nearly 600 hams and turkeys to the drive, as many team members chose to give away their annual holiday gifts to support the campaign.
“Our 5,000 team members make Owensboro Health truly special,” said Kelly Armour, director of employee experience and workforce systems. “They have rallied to meet this critical need in our community, working together unselfishly to exceed all expectations. The need has never been greater, as rising food costs and economic challenges have left many families struggling to put meals on the table. But our team members are committed to serving our local communities–inside and outside the walls of Owensboro Health.”
These contributions will help ensure that friends and neighbors across our region have access to nutritious food and critical supplies this holiday season. Organizations benefiting from these donations include:
- Help Office of Owensboro
- Salvation Army of Owensboro
- Hope2All in Muhlenberg County
- Henderson County Community Outreach
- Hopkins County Christian Food Bank in Madisonville
- Grayson County Alliance
“The generosity that the employees have shown us will fill tables and will feed the hungry,” said Angela Settle, executive director of the Help Office. “We have children, veterans, disabled, working moms. They’re going to have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas because of you.”
Owensboro Health partners with local organizations to address social determinants of health and improve the health of the communities we serve. We are grateful to everyone who helped make this food drive successful. Hunger is a year-round challenge, and together, we can continue to make a difference.
