Trauma Services at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, alongside many other teams throughout the Owensboro Health system, is a leading group of multidisciplinary specialists and medical professionals. They work diligently behind the scenes to maintain the highest standards in trauma care.
In May, this dedicated team completed the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Triennial Trauma Verification Survey and has recently received notification of their successful passing.
Since 2015, Owensboro Health has proudly been the only ACS-Verified Trauma Center in Western Kentucky (west of Louisville) and one of only six ACS-Verified Trauma Centers in the entire state.
Currently, the state of Kentucky has:
- 1 Level I Pediatric Trauma Center
- 2 Level I Adult Trauma Centers
- 1 Level II Trauma Center
- 3 Level III Trauma Centers (including OHRH)
The ACS verifies all of these centers. Additionally, there are 14 Level IV Trauma Centers designated by the state, which are different from ACS national verification.
"The successful re-verification of our facility as a Level III trauma center is a testament to the strength and dedication of our entire trauma team and every employee involved in trauma care. A verified trauma center brings critical, life-saving services to our community, ensuring patients receive expert care when seconds matter most," said Mike Mixson, Director of Trauma Services.
I’m incredibly proud of the work our team does every day to serve our region with excellence and compassion,” said Mixson.
Our expertise, dedication, focus on advancement, and connection to our communities form the foundation of Owensboro Health. We are more than just a healthcare system; we are a trusted partner in the journey to better health and stronger communities.
Please join us in congratulating the Owensboro Health Trauma Services!
