Petals for Patients: A Small Gesture with a Big Impact

A hospital stay can be lonely—especially for patients without visitors or family nearby. That’s why Owensboro Health launched Petals for Patients, a new program that delivers small flower arrangements to inpatients who could use a little comfort and care.
The idea came from a local heart patient who once received flowers during a hospital stay far from home. That small act made a lasting impression, and he wanted to bring it home. Thanks to his generosity and a $7,500 gift, the program launched in July and now delivers 10 arrangements each week.
Flowers are hand-delivered by nursing leaders chosen for their compassion and bedside connection. It’s a pure gesture of kindness and a quiet reminder that someone cares.
The Owensboro Health Foundation hopes to grow the program with help from donors and community partners. Just $10 sends a flower to a patient who needs it most. Learn more at OwensboroHealth.org/Petals.
