Wide Area Search Training at Owensboro Health Empowers First Responders

Last week, Owensboro Health Regional Hospital hosted a specialized Wide Area Search training led by the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), featuring expert instructors from Alabama, Washington and Arizona. Twenty participants from agencies across Kentucky—including Daviess County Search and Rescue, Owensboro Fire Department and Area 1 KY Emergency Management—gathered to strengthen their readiness for large-scale search and rescue operations.
The course focused on equipping responders to effectively mobilize, organize and deploy resources during disaster scenarios, preparing them for roles ranging from field searchers to incident command.
“Training impacts more lives than just our own,” said Katie Case, Emergency Management Coordinator at Owensboro Health. “Bringing trainings such as this to our region empowers our first responders to be more equipped for when disasters strike.”
