Biography
As a complex-spine and peripheral-nerve surgeon, I diagnose and treat conditions that affect the nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord. I specialize in minimally invasive techniques including cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine procedures, as well as treatment of brain tumors and brain trauma.
Early in my medical training I had rotations in neurosurgery, and I was fascinated by the complexity of the brain. I fell in love with it. So, I always say that Neurosurgery chose me. Now I have the privilege of medical students shadowing me and of leading those rotations for residents. My hope is to inspire some of them to go into neurosurgery.
I enjoy being able to provide treatment and solutions for a patient’s brain and spine issues that no other specialty can offer. My goals for caring for patients is always to treat their neurological problems and help them get their lives back – back to normal functioning, or as close as possible, so they can do what they love.
I am well-trained, highly qualified and capable, and available for my patients. I feel I am personable, approachable and have a relatable bedside manner that allows patients to trust me with their care.
For the past 10 years I have practiced and taught in small communities in the Detroit area and in Georgia that are similar in size to Owensboro. I feel familiar with this smaller size community, and I really like Owensboro so far.
I am a life-long learner and always want to find new challenges and learn new things every day. After I finished my medical education and training, I decided to go back to university to get a master’s degree in business administration. I am interested in the business aspects of medicine, and I hope one day to expand into the realm of healthcare administration.
