"Oh Baby!" Celebration Empowers New and Expecting Parents in Owensboro

Oh Baby! Event

On April 25, Owensboro Health Regional Hospital rolled out the red carpet for new and expecting parents at the annual “Oh Baby!” Celebration. Held at the health system’s Pleasant Valley Medical Office Building, the event drew in approximately 100 attendees, offering a wealth of resources to support those who are expecting, adopting, or have recently welcomed a new baby (newborn – 6 months). The day was marked by educational exhibits, expert speakers, and various resources designed to aid parents in their parenthood journey.

Heather Trulen, Owensboro Health Prenatal Educator, alongside Mindy Jones, nurse manager of the mother-baby unit, highlighted the significance of the program. It serves as a vital link connecting parents with community resources and experts in maternity and prenatal care. This year, the event placed a special emphasis on maternal-fetal health and perinatal mental health, featuring speakers such as Dr. Kiesha Nicole Benn, a Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist, and Ashly Skaggs, APRN, PMH-C, a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner focusing on perinatal mental health.
