Super Hero 5K, Kids Fun Run & Walk Postponed Until Nov. 2
Good morning to all of our registered participants, sponsors, vendors, and volunteers!
We appreciate your patience as we chose to monitor the weather forecasts until this morning before making a decision about the Super Hero 5K, Kids Fun Run & Walk scheduled for tomorrow. Unfortunately, the forecast is not conducive to the execution of this highly anticipated event (435 registered participants). This is a first-time event and we want to make sure that conditions are the best they can possibly be to introduce it to the community.
Rain is expected all day Saturday, and while many 5K runners would likely still participate in the rain, it is not ideal for the Kids Fun Run, the Survivor Walk and all of the activities we have planned for all of you. After many discussions, we have decided to postpone the event until Saturday, November 2 at the Healthpark. Postponing a special event is never the easiest of things to do, but we want to make sure it is safe and enjoyable for everyone.
Packet & t-shirt pick-up times that were scheduled for today are cancelled and will be rescheduled and communicated in advance of the new November 2 event date, as well as all other future details. If you cannot participate on the new date, you can still receive an event t-shirt at the rescheduled pick-up times that we will share in the coming weeks.
This event is at the very heart of what we do at Owensboro Health Foundation and the Healthpark—gathering community, inspiring individuals and organizations to come together to help others with their health, wellness and life needs. While we hope this does not prevent anyone from participating, please know that 100% of the proceeds from this event will be used to assist patients at Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center with their cancer journey. Whether that be for transportation or medication assistance, support groups, survivorship activities, items for the patient resource closet, free screenings and more, every dollar is needed and used in the best possible way to help those Superheroes.
If you have concerns or questions, please contact us at Found@OwensboroHealth.org. We will be in touch as November 2 approaches and we can all have a SUPER time with even more wonderful SUPERheroes!
