Masking Policy
May 30, 2023
Masking is Optional
As the federal government ends the national emergency designation for COVID-19 this month, Owensboro Health is also making changes. Going forward, our masking policy is no longer determined by the community transmission rate but rather by hospital admission rates.
The COVID-19 Steering Committee and Infection Prevention will examine current levels, and an updated masking status based on the prior weeks’ admission rates will be communicated each Tuesday morning.
This policy took effect May 12, and masking is optional at all Owensboro Health facilities.
A masking requirement means a facility’s patients, visitors and team members are required to mask in public settings or patient-facing situations. Away from those settings, team members may choose whether to wear a mask.
