Substance Use and Mental Health Resources

Owensboro Health exists to heal the sick and improve the health of the communities we serve. Keeping this in mind, we strive to address the most pressing health issues in our communities, including substance use and mental health. Below is a list of Owensboro Health Services, as well as additional outside resources available to you, a valued member of our community.

Owensboro Health Services

  • Addiction Services: To begin treatment for a substance use disorder, simply call the Addiction Services team at 270-230-0212. A physician referral is not needed.
  • Tobacco Treatment: For more information or to meet with a Tobacco Treatment Specialist, call 270-417-7564.
  • Behavioral Health: Gain the skills and resources you need to improve your mood, relationships and daily functioning through behavioral health services.
  • Pregnancy and Postpartum Behavioral Health: Learn how we can help women dealing with mental health illnesses during pregnancy and in the weeks and months after giving birth.
  • Geriatric Services: Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit is a 12-bed inpatient acute-care unit for patients 60 years of age and older who may be experiencing a crisis related to mental illness or dementia diagnosis.
  • Employee Assistance Program: Assistance & Counseling: Owensboro Health offers professional counselors who provide confidential assessment, short-term counseling, referral for follow-up services (if necessary), and education in partnership with local employers for their employees and members of their household who want help dealing with substance use issues, life changes, grief, personal problems or mental health concerns.
  • CredibleMind: Owensboro Health has partnered with RiverValley Behavioral Health to provide CredibleMind as a resource to anyone in the community who has internet access via computer, tablet, phone or any other device. Confidential and available 24/7, CredibleMind is an online platform that brings together expert vetted videos, podcasts, apps, online programs, books and articles all in one easy to use place. Learn new skills, understand your own mental health, take mental health assessments and browse our library of thousands of mental well-being resources.

  • Crisis Resources 988 Lifeline: Kentuckians in crisis can connect with suicide prevention, mental health and substance abuse counselors using a nationwide, easier-to-dial phone number – 988. Available 24/7, call or text 988, or chat online.
  • Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA): Provides resources for individuals and families coping with mental and substance use disorders.
  • FindTreatment.gov: Confidential and anonymous resource for persons seeking treatment for mental and substance use disorders in the United States and its territories.
  • FindHelpNowKY.org: Find facilities and providers who are actively taking new clients; mental health treatment, substance use disorder treatment, naloxone and recovery housing organizations in Kentucky.
  • Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy: If you’re struggling with a substance use disorder or have a friend or family member in active addiction, hope and help are available.
  • DBHID Provider Directory: Provider directory from the Kentucky Department for Behavioral Health, Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities that allows you to search for the services you need by County.
  • Quit Now Kentucky: A free online community, connecting Kentuckians who want to quit tobacco with professional quit coaches. Resources are also available for those who are considering quitting, and those supporting a loved one who uses tobacco.

Support Groups

  • Alcoholics Anonymous (AA): Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who come together to solve their drinking problem. A.A.’s primary purpose is to help those struggling with alcohol abuse to achieve sobriety. This resource can be utilized to attend virtual AA meetings across the world.
  • Narcotics Anonymous (NA): NA is support group for those attempting to recover from drugs other than just alcohol.
  • Celebrate Recovery: Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered, 12-step recovery program for anyone struggling with hurt, hang-ups and habits of any kind. This resource can be utilized to help you locate where Celebrate Recovery program are located in your community.
