Urogynecology
Women of all ages deal with pelvic floor conditions like incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. And even though these conditions can disrupt your life, it’s sometimes hard to talk about them. But don’t suffer in silence. Our expert and caring team is here to help. You can count on us to listen—and to help you get back to the life you love.
Conditions We Treat
The pelvic floor serves as the support system for organs in the pelvic region, including the uterus, bladder and rectum. The muscles and connective tissues in this system wrap around the pelvic bone, holding the organs in and helping them function as they should. But when these muscles or tissues are weakened or injured, such as during pregnancy, it can lead to a pelvic floor disorder.
These symptoms can indicate a pelvic floor disorder:
- Frequent bladder infections
- Leaking urine
- Pain during sex
- Pain in the bladder or pelvic region
- Urgent or frequent need to urinate
- Trouble emptying your bladder or bowel
- Vaginal bulging (prolapse)
Treatments We Offer
Our highly skilled and compassionate team will work with you to determine the best course of action for your condition based on your treatment goals and personal preferences. Because our job isn’t finished until you’re living your best life again.
While we offer both nonsurgical and surgical treatment options for women with pelvic floor disorders, we always try minimally invasive approaches first.
Nonsurgical approaches we may recommend include:
- Dietary and lifestyle changes
- Medications
- Physical therapy
- Vaginal pessary (removable device to help with prolapse)
When these methods don’t provide enough relief, we may ask you to consider surgical options, including pelvic floor reconstructive surgery, with either a laparoscopic, robotic or vaginal approach.
