Trauma Center
If you experience a traumatic injury—a sudden, serious wound—take comfort in knowing you can receive top-quality care close to home from Owensboro Health.
Verified Level III Trauma Center
The American College of Surgeons verified that Owensboro Health Regional Hospital is a Level III Trauma Center. This means:
- A board-certified surgeon will be in our emergency department before or soon after your arrival to quickly provide skilled care that could save your life or a limb
- Emergency medicine doctors are available 24/7
- You’ll likely remain here to receive all your care, but will transfer quickly to a Level I Trauma Center if you need specialized services.
Rapid Response Trauma Care
Trust us to provide timely Trauma Care that improves your outcome. As an ambulance brings you to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, the emergency response team alerts our Trauma Care providers, so they’ll be ready as soon as you get here. And because our trauma bays contain all the medical supplies and technology your doctor needs, your physician can treat you faster and remain in the room with you as long as necessary.
Enhancing Your Care
Rest assured you’ll get care based on the latest evidence-based guidelines. We participate in the Kentucky Trauma Advisory Committee (KyTAC), which promotes best practices in Trauma Care and Prevention. And your emergency medicine providers and trauma team receive continuing education about the best ways to treat serious injuries.
Preventing Traumatic Injuries
You or a loved one may avoid a traumatic injury thanks in part to our community outreach and injury prevention efforts. As part of the Kentucky Office of Highway Safety’s Ghost Out program, we partner with Owensboro-area high schools to educate students about the dangers of impaired driving.
