    Vicki M. Stogsdill Nursing Award


    The Owensboro Health Foundation and UofL School of Nursing, Owensboro Extension, partner to further nursing excellence in our region with an innovative award program geared to graduate students. Each semester, a UofL BSN graduate who has exhibited a higher dedication to learning, excellence in practice and the courage to be a servant-leader will be selected for a $5,000 monetary award. This award is available for both Fall and Spring semesters, and is one of many efforts toward growing Owensboro Health’s regional workforce by incentivizing great nurses to remain within our community

    About Vicki

    Vicki M. Stogsdill demonstrated dedication to her nursing career by mentoring nurses throughout the region for over 30 years. In the execution of her work, Vicki was an exemplar of integrity and led by example. Her contributions to nursing and the health of the residents of the region are numerous. Vicki’s dedication and servant-style leadership is evidenced by her history as a staff nurse, nurse manager of Intensive Care, nursing director of Surgical Services, senior vice president of Operations and vice president and chief nursing officer of Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.

    Among Vicki’s meaningful accomplishments are the development of a modern intensive care unit and initiation of Owensboro Health’s first Open Heart Recovery program. Her concern with the absence of pre-licensure BSN education options in Owensboro prompted an Owensboro Health partnership with the University of Louisville, bringing a BSN program to this region as the first distance learning program of its kind in the state. Vicki’s leadership is evident in the offices she’s served for the Kentucky Organization of Nurse Leaders, the American Red Cross and Hospice of Ohio Valley. In addition, Vicki was recognized by the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce with the Athena Award for mentoring women professionals.
