Learn how to start and maintain a healthy diet and exercise habits in a Lifesteps® weight management program. During 16 weekly group meetings, our certified Lifesteps® instructor(s) will teach you skills that will help you lose weight and keep it off. You’ll also enjoy camaraderie and support with your peers.

Plan To Be Tobacco Free

Plan to Be Tobacco Free was developed by the Kentucky Cancer Program to assist thousands of Kentucky residents who want to become tobacco free. Trained facilitators will be conducting one-time educational group classes or one on one coaching sessions. During these sessions, attendees will learn about tobacco use and nicotine addiction, assess readiness to quit and personal habits, develop their own quit plan, and much more. Diabetes Prevention Program

Today, approximately 86 million Americans are living with pre-diabetes, yet 9 out of 10 of these adults do not know they have it because pre-diabetes often has no symptoms.

Pre-diabetes is often a precursor to diabetes but it can be reversed. You can cut your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes by losing 5% to 7% of your body weight and increasing your physical activity. And you don’t have to do this alone. Owensboro Health is proud to offer the National Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) with trained DPP coaches to help guide and encourage you.

The Diabetes Prevention Program is an evidence-based lifestyle change program created by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.

During the class, you will learn simple changes for lowering your risk. Topics include:

  • Healthier eating and improving food choices
  • Increasing physical activity
  • Reducing stress
  • Staying motivated
  • Using strategies to maintain weight loss

Classes meet once a week for an hour. After the first 16 weekly sessions, you will have at least 6 monthly follow-up sessions to help you stay motivated and maintain your healthy lifestyle.

Think First National Brain & Spinal Cord Injury Prevention Program

Think First educates youth on how to assess risk and take the proper safety precautions to prevent brain and spinal cord injuries. This program is taught by nationally certified instructors along with VIP speakers who share their very own stories to show how important Think First safety is!
